Pizza tourism
07 December 2006
Tourists are flocking to Brooklyn, USA, to take a tour of the state's best pizzerias.
A tour guide has established himself as a leading advocate of Brooklyn's tourism industry by offering coach rides for those who just love pizza.
People taking a holiday in America often call Tony Muia to ask about the Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour, which also includes a tour of the state on the side.
'I know Brooklyn and I know pizza,' Mr Muia told the New York Daily News. 'Why not put them together and do something I love while enlightening people?'
His message certainly seems to be getting out there and visitor numbers have increased dramatically in recent months.
The tour includes a stop at two pizzerias, but Mr Muia tries to offer the whole package to those onboard his bus.
A TV screen at the front plays movies such as Saturday Night Fever, Annie Hall and Once Upon A Time in America as the bus passes the spots at which they were filmed.
'All you see in movies is a hard-core and tough picture of Brooklyn, but it's not,' said one customer. 'This is real life. Real people actually live here.'
