Rats on a plane
15 December 2006
Passengers onboard a packed flight were left screaming and panicking when 80 rats were spotted running around onboard.
The incident happened onboard a Saudi Airlines flight from Tabuk in Saudi Arabia, reports Arab News.
Passengers spotted the rats running down the aisles and beneath seats when the plane was cruising at 25,000 feet.
The captain was alerted to the situation and contacted ground control so that a team of experts could be brought in to rid the flight of the infestation.
Scenes onboard the flight were said to be reminiscent of those witnessed in the recent Hollywood movie Snakes on a Plane.
The flight finally came to rest and a specialist team moved in. Once landed, it became clear that a passenger had brought the rats onto the flight.
A man later admitted that he had brought them onboard in a rucksack and somehow they had escaped.
He has now been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
