Jak-heart attack
19 December 2006

A hotel in Jakarta is offering guests a hamburger which costs $A140, or twice the country's monthly minimum wage.

Tourists in Indonesia, staying in the Four Seasons hotel, are being offered the expensive treat, which comes compete with French fries.

The hamburger contains Kobe beef with foie gras, Portobello mushrooms and Korean pears.

'One burger has 225 grams of Kobe beef. It is so expensive because the flavour is really different,' Erwan Ruswandi, the chef at the hotel's restaurant, told Reuters.

'The calves in Kobe get special treatment... they drink beer mixed with milk, vitamins and eat pesticide-free grass.

'We import all the materials and they are high quality so it is so expensive,' he explained.

Hotel sources say that 20 of the burgers have been sold since its launch this month.
