Philadelphia film tour
15 January 2007

Visitors to Philadelphia can take a tour of locations featured in Hollywood movies, including those used in the latest Rocky movie, Rocky VI.

The steps to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, used in the first Rocky film for the montage which shows Sylvester Stallone become initiated into his craft, feature again for the sixth outing, which sees former heavyweight champion Rocky Balboa return to the ring from retirement.

The tour, which escorts guests around over 64 locations from the comfort of a luxury coach, evokes scenes from films including The Sixth Sense (starring Bruce Willis), 12 Monkeys (featuring Brad Pitt), and Philadelphia (with Tom Hanks).

Since Philadelphia made its movie debut in Rocky in 1976, it has featured in over 20 films in total.

The film tour was first devised as a means to entertain politicians during the Republican National Convention in 2000, hosted in the city.

The tour's organisers give behind-the-scenes insights into celebrities' activities off set and screen clips to contextualise each location for film fans, who can also enjoy offbeat offerings at Philadelphia's annual film festival each April.
