Celebs hit slopes in Banff
23 January 2007

A host of celebrities have been taking to the slopes of Alberta's Rocky Mountains for a fundraiser in Banff.

Hollywood actors, sporting greats and supermodels all turned out for the annual Celebrity Sports Invitational environmental fundraiser, which organisers say raised a whopping $1m (£500,000) last year.

Golden Globe winner Alec Baldwin was in attendance, as was Robert Kennedy Jr and supermodel Christie Brinkley.

Although many of the stars are not professional skiers by any stretch of the imagination, they were all taken aback by the region's fantastic scenery.

"It is spectacular here," said Brinkley, in reference to the Banff Springs and Sunshine Village resort.

The crowds that had gathered to watch the event were treated to some great entertainment, including a race between Jason Priestly, from Beverly Hills 90210, and Canadian favourite Justin Trudeau.

Banff is home to two ski resorts, with Springs and Sunshine Village and Mount Norquay both in close proximity to each other.
