Many passengers flying with British Airways may not be able to make their journey after the firm's cabin crew called a strike.

The strike will take place on 30 January and 31 January, with further industrial action possibly taking place on 5, 6 and 7 February; and 12, 13 and 14 February.

It means that UK airports are going to be severely affected and passengers due to fly on these days are already being told that their flights may be cancelled.

Those flying on 30 January or 31 January have already had their flights cancelled.

BAA, the firm that owns the majority of British airports, says that it is bringing in contingency plans to deal with the strikes.

However, the first message that BAA is trying to get to customers is that they should not turn up at the airport if their flight has been cancelled.

The firm says that little congestion is expected at Gatwick, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Southampton.

Heathrow, on the other hand, may be badly affected as British Airways runs the majority of its flights from there.

BAA says that it will provide heated marquees, food and hot drinks, children's activity packs, sleeping mats and woolly hats and gloves.
