Australia is preparing for a month of new activities that will whet the appetite of holidaymakers across the world.

Tourism Australia has compiled a list of the top ten most interesting things happening in the country throughout February.

Among the highest ranked activities are the new crime and passions tours in Sydney. Organisers say that those taking part will be treated to an exploration of the colourful history and modern events that are shaping the region.

Luckily, the tours are designed to be suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

The Chinchilla Melon Festival is another event which is set to take Australia by storm. Taking place between 10 February and 18 February in Queensland, the event is a celebration of all things melon.

February will also see the opening of a new tourist accommodation complex, set deep in the Fergusson Winery in Victoria. The beautiful building comes complete with elegant rooms, positioned neatly among the vines.

Tourism Australia also points to Hamilton Island in Queensland, where a blockbuster movie is being filmed and locals and tourists have been celebrity spotting.

Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson and Donald Sutherland are all on the island and are often spotted mingling with locals at the end of a days shooting.

Finally, the gourmet wanderer tour of Tasmania is proving to be a massive hit with tourists Down Under, mixing the wonderful scenery with even more wonderful food and drink.
