02 February 2007
Authorities in Vietnam are considering a number of measures which they hope will make the country more tourist-friendly.
Recent years have seen the country grow in popularity among holidaymakers, but officials are keen to build on that and make the nation even more appealing to foreign visitors.
Hoang Tuan Anh, deputy director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, told the Thanh Nien news agency that one of the proposals being considered focuses on value added tax.
Mr Anh said that the tax may be waived on goods and souvenirs brought by foreign visitors.
