Women get more stressed about air travel than men, according to a new survey.

Research, carried out by travel technology provider Amadeus and research firm Leflein Associates, shows that women are more susceptible to losing it if something goes wrong during a journey.

Women are apparently more likely to lose patience if their flight is delayed (58% compared to 52% of men), while 42% of women (32% of men) become agitated over lost luggage.

A similar picture is painted when it to comes to catching a connecting flight, with 63% of women getting stressed by the idea, compared to just 47% of men.

When it comes to complaining and transferring anger onto another person, men and women are equal, with 19% of men and 18% of women admitting that they have done this.

Despite admitting that air travel can sometimes be hampered by stress, Amadeus says things are looking very good for the future.

The firm is working alongside airliners British Airways, United Airlines and Lufthansa to implement new technologies which are aimed at improving passengers' flying experiences.

'Hassles such as flight delays, missed connections and being directed to the wrong gate or terminal may all but disappear in the next several years thanks to new technologies,' said Robert Buckman from Amadeus.

'New technology will help make the flying experience a lot less stressful in the future.'
