Hotels' bad guests database
07 February 2007

Guests who behave badly while staying in an Australian hotel could find themselves banned from all of the country's hotels.

A new database has been established, listing the details of people who cause trouble during their stay.

This file can then be accessed by other hotels around the country and a decision can be made as to whether they guest should be given a room.

The Guest Behaving Badly database was rolled out over the Christmas period and has proved very popular, with over 1,000 hotels and resorts signed up.

'Bad behaviour by guests can have an immediate cost in terms of damage to property, but the hidden cost is loss of business from other affected guests,' product manager Josh Ginty told News Limited.

'What this does is create a proactive tool for the industry whether that be a bed and breakfast or holiday letting.'

Guests will be given a warning before their data is entered onto the file.
