London City is UK's best airport
07 February 2007
People using London City airport will be delighted to hear that the hub has been voted as the UK's best airport.
Readers of Wanderlust magazine expressed their satisfaction with the level of service provided and voted it above much larger airports such as Heathrow and Gatwick.
London City airport is not resting on its laurels however, and plans are already in place for a number of new routes to and from the Docklands-based hub.
The airport benefits from fantastic transport links once passengers have disembarked from their plane.
The Docklands Light Railway provides a quick and frequent link to London city centre.
The UK's smaller airports received the highest rankings in the poll, with Southampton and Inverness being voted into second and third place respectively.
'Southampton may not have the range of destinations of, say Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester, but it's only a couple of hours from the capital and offers an efficient, friendly service for all who use it," Wanderlust's editor, Lyn Hughes, told the Southern Daily Echo.
The Wanderlust poll incorporated the opinions of over 3,000 of the magazine's readers.
