Victoria's controversial advert
19 February 2007
Tourism officials in Victoria, Canada, have defended an advertising slogan they have been using to promote the region.
A number of complaints have been filed after Tourism Victoria began running the advertisement in magazines, featuring the tag line: 'The search for your perfect orgasm is over.'
Despite the backlash from those who have been offended by the slogan, officials claim it is in good taste.
Melissa McLean, spokeswoman for Tourism Victoria, says the advert will only appear in American culinary magazines.
She points out that food advertisements often promote the concept of sensuality, meaning the Tourism Victoria ad is not too provocative.
However, in light of the complaints, Ms McLean has moved to quash rumours that the phrase will become Victoria's overall tourism slogan.
