Exhibitions on design in Scotland
20 February 2007

Holidays in Scotland have been given added depth with the launch of a new festival which celebrates the country's major achievements in design.

The festivals will be taking place across six of Scotland's biggest cities, making city breaks in Aberdeen, Dundee, Stirling, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow even more worthwhile.

Aberdeen is hosting an Extreme North exhibition, which looks at design concepts created in response to harsh conditions.

The exhibition runs from 17 May until 12 August at Aberdeen's Art Gallery. The gallery also contains 19th century paintings, craft works and decorative art.

Stirling is playing host to 100 classic chair designs between May and June, with the artefacts on display being loaned from Germany's Vitra Design Museum.

In the Highlands, the city of Inverness is holding an exhibition dedicated to housing sustainability, with the event running from the beginning of May.

Dundee will be hosting a modern interior design show, while those visiting Glasgow will be able to learn about design in air travel at the city's Tramway and innovative design at the City Arts Centre.
