bmi launches UK's first Lille link
28 February 2007

Airline bmi has announced that it will be launching its first service that links the UK to Lille.

A flight will make the journey between Leeds Bradford International airport and Lille six days a week.

The flights have even been scheduled to offer fantastic links to flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow.

It is the first time that the UK has had a direct link to Lille and in the past travellers had to fly to Paris before making their way from there.

'This is an important addition to the bmi regional European flight network and underlines our commitment to serving Leeds Bradford airport and the surrounding region,' said Stewart Adams, managing director at bmi regional.

'Leeds and Lille already share a common and special link with their twin-city status. This important new air link will not only serve to strengthen that bond in terms of both business and tourism, but will also raise their respective profiles and encourage more opportunities.'

The first flight is due to take place on 23 April.
