World's most expensive pizza
15 March 2007

New York is famous for its wide array of options when it comes to food and the city can now lay claim to being home to the world's most expensive pizza.

A restaurant owner has created a topping that includes six different types of caviar and fresh lobster.

Nino Selimaj has named the delicacy the Luxury Pizza and it costs a whopping £517, reports Reuters.

As well as the caviar and lobster, Mr Selimaj's creation comes with creme fraiche and chives, all presented on a 30cm thin crust.

'I know this won't be for everyone,' said the restaurant owner about the pizza which costs $159 (£64.50) per slice. 'But there are people in New York who can afford it and once tried, they'll be back for more. It is delicious.

'Some people will say it is just a publicity stunt but I have researched this for over a year and I think there is a demand. I have already sold one.'

The Luxury Pizza is only available at one of Mr Selimaj's New York restaurants, Nino's Bellissima in Manhattan, and must be pre-ordered 24-hours in advance so that the caviar can be ordered in.
