Rainforest World Music Festival
20 March 2007
A huge party is set to take place in Borneo this year to mark the tenth anniversary of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF).
Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) is behind the event and it is promising that this year's festival will be the biggest and best ever staged.
Musicians from around the world have been invited to the event to ensure that fans are kept entertained throughout the three-day event.
Organisers have revealed most of the line up and the excitement surrounding the festival is really beginning to pick up.
'While most of the bands are making their second appearances in this year's festival, bands like Inka Marka from Peru, Black Umfolosi [Zimbabwe], Shooglenifty [Scotland] and Aseana Percussion Unit [Kuala Lumpur] will be making their third appearances,' revealed STB public relations officer Letitia Samuel.
'And, when they are assembled at the Sarawak Cultural Village, it will be a reunion of the big names in world music of sort for everyone,' she added.
Attendances at the RWMF have grown each year and organisers hope that this will be no different. They have set their sights on welcoming 24,000 people.
The festival is being held in Sarawak Cultural Village between 13 July and 15 July.
