St Lucia to throw cricket party
21 March 2007

St Lucia is the place to be during the Cricket World Cup, specifically between 23 and 25 April.

They are the days following the weekend that the semi finals of the tournament take place and, to celebrate, the Rodney Bay Village is hosting a music festival.

Acts such as Shaggy and Maxi Priest will take to the stage for the event which is being held at the base for the England cricket team.

Organisers expect fans and players alike to take part in the party which will run for three days.

A number of other local and international acts will also be performing and it is expected that the festival will bring to an end St Lucia's role in a fantastic Caribbean World Cup.

St Lucia is a tourist hotspot and sees its highest visitor numbers between the months of January and April.

The island relies very heavily on tourism for financial stability but the sale of bananas is the island's biggest money maker.
