Pennsylvania breaks golfing record

Holidaymakers enjoying a trip to Pennsylvania in June will have the chance to witness a piece of history.
The Oakmont Country Club is preparing to host the US Open Golf Championship in 2007 and that will be a record-breaking eighth return for the Open.
Widely regarded as one of the most challenging golf courses in the country, Oakmont is positioned on the outskirts of Pittsburgh and has hosted an incredible 13 national championships.
Golf enthusiasts are regularly attracted to Pennsylvania as it has more courses per capita than any other US state.
In total, there are over 700 golf courses, with 500 which are open to the public and a number of which are award-winning.
The US Open Golf Championship returns to the Oakmont Country Club between 11 June and 17 June 2007.
