British attractions receive cash boost
22 March 2007
Some of Britain's best-known landmarks have had their future secured after a Liverpool-based firm announced that it has received a multi-million pound funding package.
In total, £5.2m has been secured by Heritage Great Britain (HGB) in a deal with Alliance & Leicester.
HGB owns and maintains a number of popular tourist attractions including Land's End, John O'Groats and Snowdown Railway Mountain and the additional funding will ensure that each site remains attractive to visitors for years to come.
'This deal will enable Heritage Great Britain to carry out exciting improvements to our sites around the country, and in turn will provide a terrific boost to the local economies in the areas around the various heritage sites,' revealed Allan Leech, chief executive of HGB.
'There are a number of improvements we would like to make to our heritage sites, to make the visitors' experience even more entertaining.'
It has not yet been revealed precisely what improvements will be made at the sites.
