A380 to visit East Midlands
23 March 2007
The Airbus A380 is continuing its world tour by flying over the East Midlands.
The huge aircraft has a connection with the region as parts for its engines were built there but it has yet to pay a visit to the skies over head.
However, the craft is now due to pass over East Midlands airport and this has caused a ripple of excitement among plane enthusiasts there.
'We were all disappointed last year when the A380 visited Britain on two separate occasions and failed to appear in the skies over the East Midlands, especially with the obvious connection with Rolls Royce,' revealed Trevor Fitchett, spokesman for the Aeropark Volunteers Association.
'However, this visit, will I'm sure, make up for that disappointment and we are opening the Aeropark so everyone can get a real close up view of the shape of things to come in civil aviation.'
The A380 is going to be hard to miss as it passes overhead, with wingspan of 79 metres and two floors on the inside, the plane truly is a giant of the skies.
