BAA to unveil Easter plans
26 March 2007

With Easter weekend being one of the busiest for airline travel, airport operator BAA is to unveil its plans for dealing with it.

The company, whose seven operations include London's Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted Airports, is expected to say that security will be heightened due to the increased passenger numbers and new baggage regulations will be in force.

With Christmas passengers stuck with long delays which critics claim was only partially due to the heavy fog, there are hopes that BAA will make travel as hassle-free yet secure as possible over Easter weekend, which runs from Friday 6 April to Monday 9 April this year.

As travellers prepare for a weekend of travel, BAA could face bigger changes for the future as it is expected to face the Competition Commission.

If it does face the commission in 2008 as expected, this could lead to it being forced to reduce the amount it charges airlines to use its facilities.
