KLM launches non-stop service to Lima
26 March 2007

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has begun offering a full non-stop service to the Peruvian capital city of Lima.

The flight roster came into operation on 25th March and will offer six journeys per week to Jorge Chavez international airport.

Six flights per week will currently be on offer, expanding to a daily service on 1st December 2007. According to KLM, this frequency of connections "better meet the wishes of its passengers".

Peter Hartman, deputy president and CEO of KLM, said that the Latin American market is currently in a period of growth for the airline.

'Over the past two years, we have seen an impressive increase in passenger and cargo traffic to and from Peru,' Mr Hartman said. 'In addition, the country is attracting more and more leisure travellers.'

The airline emphasised that its decision to begin a new non-stop service to Peru was representative of its strategy to serve destinations in potential growth markets all over the world.
