Hotel's breakfast performer
27 March 2007
Many people enjoy eating their breakfast while listening to the radio or their favourite piece of music but few are lucky enough to be treated to a live performance with their first meal of the day.
Tourists staying in the Novotel Gardens hotel in Queenstown, New Zealand, however, are that lucky and the early-morning live performances are proving to be a hit.
For three days per week, Brian Foden takes to the stage with his acoustic guitar and serenades his captive audience.
Foden is originally from the UK and has his roots in playing live for holidaymakers.
'I travelled around the UK in a professional show band for a couple of years and then worked as part of the entertainment team at a UK holiday camp,' revealed the performer.
'When I was travelling, the guitar meant I could always meet people and earn a meal, but normally I like to play just for fun.'
Foden admits that some breakfast eaters have given him 'strange looks' but he claims that the majority are happy to listen to his relaxed tunes.
He also says that most people feel they are getting more for their money by having him there to perform.
