bmi regional most often on time
04 April 2007
Some passengers have felt the frustration of delays at the UK's airports since security measures were stepped up last summer
but late departures could become a thing of the past if other airlines follow bmi regional's lead.
The Aberdeen-based airline has been named the UK's most punctual during 2006, according to Civil Aviation Authority figures.
No less than 91% of its flights last year were on time, and where a delay occurred, customers had to wait just five minutes before departing.
Eastern Airways in second place managed 86% punctuality and an average delay of seven minutes.
'Being on time is something we constantly strive for,' commented Stewart Adams, managing director of bmi regional.
But 'there is no room for complacency', he added, stressing the airline's commitment to giving holidaymakers and business passengers a reliable service every time.
Meanwhile, overseas flights with bmi were the most punctual for leaving Heathrow in contrast to Virgin Atlantic, whose overseas flights were punctual just 54% of the time and delayed by an average 26 minutes.
