Lufthansa increases fleet
20 April 2007
German airline company Lufthansa has announced that it will be boosting its regional fleet of aircraft.
The firm's Supervisory Board has given its approval for plans to buy 45 short-range craft from the end of next year.
Lufthansa already has an impressive number of regional routes and feeder flights and these new acquisitions will help to improve that further.
It means that passengers who fly with the German carrier will have access to even more destinations.
The firm says that once the new aircraft have been bought, its customers will be able to choose from 192 destinations in 78 countries around the world.
In addition to providing more destinations for its passengers, Lufthansa is particularly pleased that the new jets are highly fuel efficient.
The planes can carry one person for 100 kilometres while using just four litres of fuel.
