Baring all in Mexico City
30 April 2007

Travellers planning a holiday in Mexico in May could be treated to a rare sight if thy head down to Mexico City.

Zocalo square will become awash with nudists on 13 May as US artist Spencer Tunick embarks on a project.

Mr Tunick has been working on the idea for some time, with officials originally denying him the right to stage the event at the Teotihuacan pyramids outside the capital.

However, local media reports that he has now been given permission to gather the nude models and carry out a photo shoot.

Zocalo square is famous the world over and is known for being the centre of the ancient Aztec empire.

The square sits on top of a ruined Aztec temple and is surrounded by a number of imposing buildings.

Mr Tunick will be taking photographs of the properties in the square with the nude models posing in front and he will be hoping to break his record of photographing 7,000 people which he achieved in Barcelona in 2003.
