Emirates increases A380 order
08 May 2007

Emirates Airlines has confirmed that it is still purchasing 43 Airbus A380s and the firm is also buying four more.

The first of the superjumbos are due to be delivered to the carrier at the end of 2008 and the firm has reaffirmed its commitment to the aircraft with the new order.

The A380 offers more comfortable seating for passengers in all classes and is capable of carrying around 525 people.

Despite a grand launch by Airbus, the A380 has had its fair share of problems, with technical difficulties leading to a number of delays.

Some airlines have recently been turning their attentions away from the superjumbo and are now ordering the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

However, Airbus is confident that it will be able to provide the aircraft to all that want them and this latest deal is being seen as a real boost for the aircraft maker.

'A repeat order for the A380 from a leading airline like Emirates is a huge vote of confidence for Airbus,' said Louis Gallois, president of Airbus.

'Emirates have great ambitions and we are delighted that our partnership, which dates back to 1985, continues to grow from strength to strength.

'I'd like to thank Emirates for their faith in Airbus and in our most modern and environmentally friendly aircraft - the world's 21st century flagship,' he added.
