Virgin introduces free wi-fi
15 May 2007
Passengers flying with Virgin Atlantic Airways in Upper Class will soon have access to free wi-fi internet.
Currently internet access is only available at London Heathrow, London Gatwick, John F Kennedy New York, Washington Dulles International and Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok airports' Clubhouses.
However, the firm plans to role the scheme out to all of its Clubhouses around the world, allowing passengers internet access before and after their flights.
Passengers do not even have to pay, with an access code available upon request from Virgin staff.
Research by the carrier shows that 10% of Upper Class passengers spend around 54 minutes online each time they are in the Clubhouse.
Now Virgin says that they will be able to stay online for longer by taking advantage of the free connection.
'Virgin Atlantic is always looking at ways to enhance the services we offer our passengers and the introduction of free wi-fi access in our Clubhouses will mean that Upper Class passengers will no longer have the frustration of trying to make it through the Internet connection jungle.
'Giving passengers the ability to work more effectively whilst enjoying the hospitality of our Clubhouses can only enhance the whole journey whether it be for business or pleasure,' he added.
