Step into England's past
17 May 2007
Tourists planning to spend the end of May in the UK will not be short of things to do as English Heritage is arranging a number of events during the country's May Bank Holiday.
The organisation is certain that it will attract many visitors to any one of it sites during the holiday and is promising family fun days out which offer visitors the chance to immerse themselves in another era.
Victorian, Medieval, Roman Tudor, Napoleonic and World War II-era sites are open for the long weekend, providing entertainment for a wide range of people.
'We have something for everyone over the May Bank Holiday and half term school break,' said Nicole Dobbin, events marketing manager for English Heritage.
'See history unfold at some of the most interesting historic properties England has to offer.
'With much to entertain adults and children alike at all of the events, from have-a-go Elizabethan dancing, to junior jousting, make sure these dates are in your diary,' he added.
The Medieval Living Village at Kenilworth Castle offers a real taste of life in years gone by, while Queen Victoria and King Albert would like you to join them for a Royal Victorian Visit at Audley End House and Gardens.
If that does not take your fancy, then head to Pendennis Castle for the Grand Joust or experience an audience with King Henry the Eighth at Dover Castle s Living History Spectacular.
