Balearic film festival
31 May 2007
The Cannes Film Festival may have come to an end but that does not mean the movie-going public has no other event to attend.
In fact, no sooner had Cannes been emptied of Hollywood stars than the Spanish islands of Ibiza and Formentera began inviting them over.
The Formentera and Ibiza Film Festival is already in full swing and is featuring a host of movies from around the world.
A total of 18 films will be shown during the event and it is a chance for some lesser-known directors and actors to get their work on screen.
Films from as far afield as Korea, Italy and Argentina will share the limelight with movies from the UK and the US.
Stars that have already made the trip to the Balearics for the event include John Hurt, a patron of the festival, East Is East actor Jimi Mistry and comedian Keith Allen, father of singer Lily.
