S7 is large Boeing order
07 June 2007
S7, formerly Siberia Airlines, has placed a large order for a number of Boeing's new 787 Dreamliners.
The carrier has ordered 15 of the aircraft at a combined price of £1.2 billion and is the largest sale that Boeing has ever made to a former Soviet Union country.
In addition to the 15 Dreamliners that will be delivered by 2014, S7 has the option of ordering a further ten in the future.
The airline is Russia's second largest and is in the top 50 of the world's biggest domestic carriers.
It regularly scores well in performance tables and is currently ranked in the top 100 throughout the globe.
S7's order of Dreamliners is good news for the American plane-maker as it tries to ensure that it does not lose too much ground to Airbus in the race for domination in the skies.
