Virgin sets sights on Mauritius
08 June 2007

Virgin Atlantic has announced that it will be providing a twice-weekly link between London and Mauritius.

Beginning on 28 October, the direct service will run from Heathrow airport to the idyllic island in the Indian Ocean.

The route will be served by an Airbus A340-300, carrying 240 passengers and coming with all of the in-flight benefits that Virgin has to offer.

'I am really excited that Virgin Atlantic is to serve this beautiful island, our first entry into the Indian Ocean,' said Andrew Fyfe from the airline.

'The launch of these services will lead to increased competition, better value for money and quality of service. This new route shows that we are continuing to build a long-haul network with the ideal mix of business and leisure routes for today's traveller.

'Mauritius is a beautiful island offering a range of relaxing spa centres and elegant hotels. Passengers will be spoilt for choice by the range of top class hotels, fine dining opportunities, excellent water sports, and world-class golf courses on this tropical paradise,' he added.

Virgin has revealed that all flights to Mauritius will come complete with the carrier's new Upper Class suite.
