Qantas has big plans for A380
08 June 2007

The Airbus A380 has made its third visit to Australia as part of a major publicity tour.

The superjumbo, which will become the largest commercial aircraft in the world when it is officially released, was welcomed by Qantas as it landed in Sydney.

Qantas has ordered 20 of the massive planes and has an option to purchase a further four in the future.

The A380 had passengers onboard for this latest visit to Sydney and performed low-altitude flights over Sydney Harbour and Canberra.

'Today's flight has confirmed that the A380 is going to revolutionise air travel. With its fuel efficiency and overall performance, the A380 will deliver significant benefits to Qantas and the environment, as well as giving us the scope to reinvent the style of product and service we offer onboard,' said executive general manager of Qantas John Borghetti.

'We have been working with Qantas' creative director Marc Newson for more than two years now on new, state-of-the-art First, Business and Economy cabins for the Qantas A380, which will be unveiled in the near future.'

Qantas is due to receive its first delivery of the A380 in August 2008 with the airline revealing that it will initially use it for flights from Australia to the UK and US.
