Fridgehenge taken down

A sculpture in New Mexico made entirely of unwanted refrigerators has been torn down.
The piece, known unofficially as Stonefridge or Fridgehenge, was created by artist Adam Harowitz almost ten years ago.
It features over 100 disused fridges which have been placed to mimic the ancient Stonehenge arrangement in England.
Fridgehenge has long been a popular tourist attraction but officials have decided to remove it on grounds of health and safety.
Much of the 24-metre-high structure, which has become covered in graffiti over the years, has fallen down in recent times due to high winds.
However, many people are disappointed that Fridgehenge is no longer in place as it had gained something of a cult following.
Officials from the city of Santa Fe, where the sculpture was, said that it was never supposed to be a permanent fixture and following a number of complaints from neighbours, it was removed.
'It started out as a statement about American consumerism and waste, and then it sort of became waste itself,' Laura Banish, a city spokesperson told the Associated Press.
