Driving around Scotland
12 June 2007

Scotland is launching its first ever Classic Car Challenge and is inviting all motor enthusiasts to come along for the ride.

Three scenic routes have been designated for the challenge, offering those who take part the chance to see some of the country's fantastic surroundings.

The routes take drivers along the coast, the River Tweed and the Reivers and VisitScotland, the organisation behind the Classic Car Challenge, says that it will be an experience like no other.

'Scotland is home to some of the most scenic drives in the world. Where else can you find un-congested, meandering roads taking you past historic castles, elegant abbeys and dramatic ruins?' said Felicity Madelin, sector development manager at VisitScotland.

'The Scottish Borders is a destination which has a wealth of things to see and do: from scenic drives to charming towns and villages, historic houses, castles and gardens, all within easy reach, whether you're travelling from the south or the north.'

The Classic Car Challenge has been launched ahead of the world-renowned Moffat Car Rally which attracts an average 6,000 visitors.

Drivers can take place in the Classic Car Challenge between 1 June and 31 October.
