Half of Brits 'more adventurous' on holiday
13 June 2007
Brits may have a reputation for being somewhat reserved but it seems that jetting off to a foreign location can change all that.
A new poll has revealed that half of all British holidaymakers take part in some kind of spontaneous - and sometimes dangerous - activity while away.
The most popular of these are parasailing, rock climbing, white-water rafting and bungee jumping, according to the study conducted by price comparison website moneysupermarket.com.
But travellers are being warned that deciding to take part in a last-minute, dare-devil activity may mean they are not covered by insurance should something go wrong.
Richard Mason, director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said: 'Make sure you are covered for your holiday needs. If you are just going to soak up the rays on a beach and the thought of climbing a rock face or bungee jumping fills you with dread, then a standard policy will be right for you.
'If you are planning to do anything a little more adventurous, you should make sure you are covered and aware of any exclusions in your policy. For example, scuba divers should be aware they are usually not covered below 30 metres.'
