Emirates has been revealed as the most popular airline among UK travellers, according to the results of a new survey.

Research by customer insight analyst The Listening Group shows that the Dubai-based carrier came out tops in a poll taken in a bid to discover the UK's perfect holiday for 2007.

The top three destinations for Brits this year are said to be Canada, Australia and Switzerland followed by Austria and South Africa.

Around 8,000 18 to 65-year-olds were questioned for the poll, which also found that 40% of Brits were now using the internet to book their trips abroad.

Neville Upton, the chief executive of The Listening Group, said that for many people, advice from colleagues and friends on destinations and airlines had a big impact on their decisions.

'Positive word of mouth amongst consumers is an essential factor in driving company growth and even a 1% reduction in negative word of mouth would lead to millions of additional revenue,' he said.
