Air Malta's additional Romanian route
15 June 2007

Air Malta is to begin providing flights to Timisoara in Romania, continuing the airline's strong links with the country.

Travellers who use the Maltese carrier have been able to fly from the tiny Mediterranean island to Bucharest and Cluj for some time.

However, the airline will now service Timisoara, which sits on the western Romanian border and will also provide a link to south-east Hungary and northern Serbia.

The flights will begin operations when the peak season hits in July and will run for nine weeks to satisfy demand.

Officials at Air Malta are pleased that they have established the new links and told reporters in Romania that they are confident that the service will prove popular.

'We are confident that Air Malta's new operation from Timisoara would generate additional traffic from this new region,' revealed Mark Camilleri from the airline.

'We hope that we continue to grow and expand charter services from other new destinations and regions in the near future.'
