From 1 July, holidaymakers travelling through London's Gatwick airport can experience the unique Japanese cultural phenomenon that is the 'capsule hotel'.

With standard rooms measuring seven metres across and the premium option providing guests with three extra metres of space, the 46-cabin ultra-modern luxury hotel, launched by YO! Founder Simon Woodroffe, emphasises convenience and flexibility at affordable prices.

Rooms consist of a bed and an en suite, featuring integrated gadgets such as the 'techno wall' with clothes storage, a pull down desk, charging points and Wi-Fi internet access, as well as mood lighting and flat-screen televisions with built-in room service functions.

'In the 21st century, luxury will be available to everyone around the globe at the right cost and this is a taste of that future,' said Mr Woodroffe. 'The cabins come with all the facilities you would expect from a traditional hotel to enable work, relaxation sleep, refreshment and entertainment.'

Preparations are already underway to bring Yotels to several more sites around the world, initially including Dubai, the Netherlands, Singapore, Thailand, Germany, the USA, Russia, India and South Africa.
