Stolen British wheelie bin surfaces in Belgium!
27 June 2007

A wheelie bin that was stolen from the British city of Peterborough has turned up in Bulgaria, the city's authorities have claimed.

The wheelie bin was one of 2,000 that Peterborough Council says have disappeared in the past year, at a total cost of £75,000.

A spokesman for the council commented on the bizarre discovery: 'One 240 litre green recycling bin clearly stamped with the city council's name was even spotted in a residential area near the Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach in Belgium.

'This is the most outrageous example of theft of a wheeled bin we have ever come across,' he continued, in disbelief.

Sunny Beach is the biggest Bulgarian sea resort, situated along the coast of the Black Sea. More than 200 hotels with a combined total of 110,000 beds are spread among the natural dunes along the beach strip, along with diverse beach, water and nightlife attractions.
