Irina Abramovich yachting in Croatia
11 July 2007
Irina Abramovich, former wife of Russian oil tycoon and owner of Chelsea football club Roman Abramovich, took her children to Dubrovnik, the 'pearl of the Adriatic', for a sun laden holiday off the coast of Croatia.
The Russian mother of five used her ex-husband's luxurious 115 metre yacht, the Pelorus, as her base of operations. She was seen with her kids walking around the historic city, which has been visited by the likes of Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas and Roger Moore in the past.
The family were given a private guided tour along the narrow streets of the quaint city, learning about the history of sites such as the Onofrio Fountain, dating from 1483 and the Sponsza Palace, which was built during the 13th century along with th city walls.
Meanwhile her billionaire former husband, whom Irina divorced earlier this year, enjoyed a break of his own aboard another of his collection of yachts, the Ecstasea.
A keen yachting enthusiast, Roman Abramovich has amassed one of the worlds' most impressive fleets of yachts. Currently being built in Germany for a cost reportedly in the region of £200m, the Eclipse, the newest edition to his collection, will be the largest private yacht in the world.
