Virgin increases Christmas and New Year Jamaica flights
11 July 2007
Virgin Atlantic has announced that it will increase the number of flights to Montego Bay in Jamaica this Christmas and New Year, due to high levels of demand last year.
The airline will run five extra services between London Gatwick and Sangster International airports on 22, 23 and 29 December 2007, as well as on 5 and 6 January 2008, with return flights departing on the same days.
Steve Ridgeway, chief executive of Virgin Atlantic, said: "We are thrilled to be able to add extra flights between London and Montego Bay. This route was the airline's eighth Caribbean route introduced only last year.
"The route has proved to be very popular with our leisure customers and these additional flights will provide a further boost to the region's economy, with over two thousand passengers expected to take advantage of the extra services."
Virgin Atlantic is preparing to further expand its services to Jamaica this year with the launch of new twice-weekly flights between Gatwick and Kingston from 30 October 2007. The new service will double the airline's capacity between London and Jamaica to 190,000 passengers a year.
