Lithuania comes together for Be2Gether
17 July 2007
Lithuania is preparing to host Be2Gether, the biggest Baltic music and arts festival, which will run from 24 to 26 August.
The confirmed lineup for this year's festival includes a wide range of acts, such as Morcheeba, The Young Knives, Datarock, The Bloodhound Gang and Therapy?, as well as a number of musical performers from Lithuania and the surrounding countries of Iceland, Finland, Belarus, Latvia and Poland.
The festival will be held in the small village of Norviliskes, on the ground of a 16th century castle close to the border with Belarus, in the south-east of Lithuania.
According to Lithuanian rock legend Andrius Mamantovas, the musical extravaganza will offer Lithania a chance to reconnect with the rest of Central and Eastern Europe after years of isolation.
'For many years we were isolated from the world and even after the fall of the iron curtain the Berlin wall in people's minds still separates Western and Eastern Europe. Be2Gether festival will be a huge blow to that wall,' he said.
