Pennsylvania launches five new 'arts and crafts' trails
20 July 2007
For those searching out creativity on their travels, the US state of Pennsylvania has unveiled five new 'artisan trails' winding through the countryside, which take holidaymakers on a tour of some of the finest examples of potters, quilters, glassblowers and other creative artists.
The new trails are part of a statewide effort to promote fine arts and craftsmanship and feature local galleries, studios, lectures, workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations across a range of arts and crafts.
The trails, which follow Routes 6, 15, 45, 222 and the Lincoln Highway as they snake across the state, feature a number of small artistic communities.
Each bring together traditional American values and modern artistic movements, expressing a unique mix of culture through sculpture, painting, glass-making, jewellery and furniture-making.
