Air Malta introduces new route to Libya
24 July 2007

Air Malta has launched a new service between two airports in the UK and Benghazi, the second largest city in Libya.

Those hoping to travel to the city, which is the capital of the Cyrenaica province, can now depart twice-weekly from London Heathrow and Manchester airports. The airline currently offers daily flights to the Libyan Capital of Tripoli from Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester, via Malta.

Leslie Muscat, UK and Ireland manager for Air Malta, said: ' As the only international airline operating from Benghazi, Air Malta is pleased to offer a unique service to UK passengers wishing to fly to this fascinating region.

'At just one hour and 20 minutes flight time from Malta to Benghazi and one hour to Tripoli, Malta makes the ideal connection point and we look forward to generating both business and leisure traffic on this route.'

British Airways, Alitalia, Lufthansa and Afriquiya Airways also offer flights between airports in the UK and destinations in Libya.
