Air China reassures over 2008 Olympics
25 July 2007

Air China, official airline partner of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the country's flag carrier, has reassured those hoping to visit next summer's games that it is already working to ensure provision of the best possible service.

The airline said that it was working hard to cut delays and also to improve employees' English language skills, ready for the influx of European passengers estimated to be preparing to visit China during and after the 2008 Olympics.

Air China has come under criticism recently following a string of delays to destinations around the world.

It said that many of the delays were caused by the seasonal thunderstorms which fall upon Beijin during the summer months, but acknowledged that more could be done to make sure passengers are kept abreast of any developments.

"We will improve our service quality this year, including addressing the delay problem," Zhang Lan, vice president of sales, told reporters.

Air China is the second largest carrier in China, and flew 33.97 million passengers around the world during 2006.
