Visit celand's most 'unique' museum
10 August 2007
Those curious to find out what really lies in store at the Icelandic Phallological Museum best hurry, because the world's premier penis museum will be closing for the year in September.
Once in Reykjavik, the museum, which was established by a group of scientists with a quite unique field of interest, is now situated north of the town of Husavik and provides a collection that is not for the faint of heart.
According to those that run the museum, phallology is an "ancient art" that has been generally overlooked by modern scientific disciplines, that is until the museum was established.
The museum lays out all the mysteries and secrets of male genitalia, with a collection of more than 245 specimens from a collection of sea and land mammals native to Iceland.
Truly one of the world's most unique exhibits, the museum also has a gallery dedicated to penis-theme art and a collection of folkloric specimens, allegedly from elves, trolls and sea monsters! Strictly for the more daring among you.
