Services to begin between Stansted and Tromso
06 September 2007
Scandinavian carrier Norwegian has announced that it is to begin flying from Stansted to the Arctic city of Tromso.
The airline will begin twice-weekly transfers between the English hub to the city in Norway from 8 December.
Daniel Skjeldam, network director with Norwegian, said that this new destination offers 'something special' to the market and described the development as 'very exciting'.
'Tromso presents fantastic arctic nature and wildlife, cosmopolitan city life, polar nights and midnight sun, and it's all a short low-cost flight away from London,' he added.
'The city is also a gateway to the Arctic with great connections onward with the passenger line Hurtigruten.'
Tromso is the eighth largest city in Norway by population and home to the world's northernmost university. The city centre is located almost 400km inside the Arctic Circle.
