KLM makes e-tickets available on all routes
07 September 2007
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced that it is now offering its customers the potential to book e-tickets to all of its 124 destinations.
The carrier claims that e-ticket booking makes journeys simpler for passengers, as the automatic recording of data means that only identity documents need to be presented when customers check in.
Some 89% of KLM passengers currently book their tickets online and the airline aims to increase this to 100 per cent by January 2008, when paper tickets will only be available on request.
The operator claims that it is the international airline industry's leader in the replacement of paper tickets with e-tickets.
Martijn van der Zee, vice-president of distribution and e-commerce at KLM, said: 'The convenience of e-ticketing on all KLM routes is not only a milestone for us, but also for our customers.
'An e-ticket cannot be lost or stolen, because it is always safely listed under the passenger's name in our computer systems. Soon everyone will travel on an e-ticket, regardless of whether they buy it online or via a travel agency.'
