Maldives resort gets visitors surfing
07 September 2007

Visitors to the Maldives will soon have the chance to test their balance and inevitably their swimming skills at a new resort offering a range of surfing options.

The Anantara resort has partnered with Australian company Tropicsurf to launch the service, which will include a four-day surfing course.

Surfing season in the area is April to October and, according to the resort operator, there are six different 'wave types' to choose from for different types of surfers.

Novices will be given introductory lessons in calm waters before deciding if they feel confident enough to progress to a surf break.

Ross Phillips, CEO of Tropicsurf, said: "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to share our knowledge of surfing with guests at Anantara.

"There are some of the best waves you could find anywhere in the world right here on our doorstep. Not too many other surfers frequent these waters, and the best part is you don't have to be a pro surfer to enjoy them."
